"I will need to have a think about this"
Understanding your role
Getting Started or Progressing Your Shared Decision Making
What should you expect from your healthcare team?
To help you come to a fully informed decision about your psoriasis management, you should be provided with the following by your healthcare team:
A clear explanation of the choices you are given – your doctor, nurse or pharmacist will explain where there is an element of choice that you can participate in.
An overview of the risks and benefits of the available psoriasis management options – this is so you can find out which might work for your lifestyle and life goals.
An opportunity to explore your own values and preferences – your healthcare team will work with you to help you identify your preferred option based on what matters to you.
An opportunity to make a decision or postpone it until a later date if you need more time to explore your options – you should never feel rushed.
If you are not offered the above information or opportunities then you can remind your doctor, nurse or pharmacist that you would like some more information.
You can do this by saying something simple like:
"I’m sorry, would you mind explaining that again?"
"I am still not fully clear on XXX"
"I would like to talk about how that would work for me specifically"
"I will need to have a think about this"
